Indemnity Bond- August 13, 1815

Lehigh County, Pennsylvania was formed in 1812 from Northampton.

Seals were used to authenticate documents and men were expected to have a personal die. Records in deed books are copies and signatures are usually in the clerk’s handwriting. The clerk drew a circle around the word “seal” to indicate that the original document was sealed.

Know all men by these Presents.

That we Elesabeta bransteder widow(?) and Andrew Scheschler both of Heidelberg Township in Lehigh County State of Pennsylvania,

are held and firmly bound unto Daniel Bransteder aforesaid in the Sum of two thousand Dollars lawfull Money of the United States of American to be paid to the Said Daneal Bransteder or to his Certain Attornies executors and administrators or assigns to which payment well and truly to be made we do find ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and singally for and in the whole firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals Dated the Thirteth Day of augus in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen,

The Condition of this obligation is Such that Whereas writting obligations are given to the Said Elesabeta bransteter for the keeping and maintaining of She the Said Elesabeta during the remainder of hir natural life for which Said Sum of two hundred and twenty five pund the Said Elisabeth and Andrew Schesler during the remainder of hir live by the hilp of Said Andrew Schesler... if therefore the Said Elesbeth and Andrew Scheschler Shall and do from time to time and all times hereafter well and Sufficiently Save defend keep harmless and indimnify the Said Daneal bransteter of and from all expences costs charges and demage whatsoever which Shall or may hereafter happen or auvue for or by reason of the Said Separation and of the maintenance and keeping herselve the Said Elisabeth during her natural life and of . . .

And from all actions Suits troubles and demands whatsoever touching or co. . ing the same then the written obligation to be void but if the default to be made the to be and remain in full force and virtue.

be it Remembered that on the thirteth Day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred fifteen came before the Subscriber one of Justices of the Peace in and for the Said County Elesabeta bransteter Schessler acknowledged the wintin indemnity Bond to be their act and Deed & desired the same might be recorded as Such according to law Witness my and and Seal the Day and year first above written.
